Earlier this week I tried a take away kebab from the restaurant that holds the title of Worst in Bedford – based on TripAdvisor reviews.
To my surprise, ironically, the best kebab wasn’t terrible, and I survived to tell the story.
In the name of science, I’ve decided that now I have to try the top rated kebab in Bedford to see how big the difference really is.

TripAdvisor would suggest they achieve this with a 4 star rating out of 662 reviews making it the top rated kebab house in Bedford.
The catch … it’s a little expensive. While paying £ 7 for my meal at Best Kebab, I was almost bankrupt because of the £ 17.50 I spent on a lamb shish at The Skewer Lounge.
I went downstairs to get my food and sadly said goodbye to the best part of a £ 20 bill.
The food I got in return was presented a little differently than your normal raw and ready-made kebab house. It came with rice, warm Turkish flatbread, salad, and sauce.
And was it worth the money? Certainly.
Most of the time, I get a kebab when I just want hot food to scratch that itch after a few drinks, but it usually makes you feel guilty and greasy easily.
However, this food was so good that I devoured it with no regrets.
The meat was juicy, the sauces were delicious, and the bread was the perfect compliment.
After Best Kebab turned out to be not as bad as TripAdvisor would have me believe, my trust in the public reviews has been restored as The Skewer Lounge is definitely worth the hype and I will definitely be ordering again.
